We are a regional society with affiliates across British Columbia who provide programs and services for individuals living with diverse abilities, mental health barriers, addictions, homelessness and those who have been incarcerated. Our programs stem from the work of a formerly incarcerated man John Howard, whose lived experience in the prison system made him an advocate for humanitarian care for those incarcerated around the globe.

We believe that choices made in the past don’t determine your future. We understand that trauma and hardship from society or circumstances greatly influence our decisions. This is why meeting people where they are at must be at the centre of our work. We recognize that a person’s worth is not earned, it is inherent.
